Jesus often spoke in parables- stories that the people of the time would understand with an underlying message.
Here is our 'Modern Day Parable of Jesus'.
A man walks into a crowded cafe with a extensive line up ... all heads turn and he makes his way to the front counter. The busy staff struggle trying to satify the needs of their customers. The man, seeing their needs, stands on a chair and calls out, "Who will join me, in preparing the food and coffee for these people, like yourselves?" At once, some men emerge from the crowd and move behind the counter, offering to help. The man - lets call him Christian, smiles and teaches them what they need to do.Amidst all the commotion, a young child starts choking. Christian, quickly rushes to his aid and dislodges the cookie from the young boys throat- heroically saving the boy's life.
As rush hour comes to a finish, Christian walks outside for a break, where he notices a homeless man lying on the sidwalk. Christian has compassion on the man, and gives him some leftover food from the cafe. The man, incredibly greatful, thanks Christian and offers to return his good deed. As people saw what Christian had done, they surrounded him, and listened intently as he told them valuable lessons about the purpose of life, and how they can live accordingly. The many people followed Christian back into the cafe as their curiosity of him rose, and Christian asked the staff how much food they had left. They told him we only have 5 scones and 2 crossaints. He assured them it was not as issue, and began dividing the food and placing them on plates to hand to the people. When he had run out, the staff came to him and gave him 3 plates of food leftover.
After a time, following more stories, lesons and questions for Chrsitian, another man walked in, but he looked different to Christian. The man - lets call him Jude - walked straight up Christian, who was still behind the counter, and asked "Where is your uniform?" Christian looked surprised for a moment, then explained how he offered his assistance at a time of need. Jude introduced himself as a Food Safety Health Officer and proceded to inspect the cafe and continued questioning Christian's authority and what he had been up doing in the cafe that day. Jude says to the crowd, "This man, could has posed a major risk to the safety of all of you! He has no right to prepare this food- he is unqualified!" The crowd began to murmur. "He could have given you all food poisioning, and who knows who is going to pay for all that free food- are you?" The crowd becomes unsettled. "I say, you may never come in this cafe again! Now leave!" The people, begin to push him until he falls on his knees out the door. The door closes on him and the people sit, and begin to talk- ignoring and rejecting the man, Christian. He leaves. 3 days later, the cafe door swung open- the cafe owner was standing there, hand in hand with his son, Christian. The father declared, " This cafe, belongs to my son and I. Now eat, enjoy, for I have already paid for your bill." The people became excited and celebrated the son and father for their generosity, apologised for their rejection of him and offered their gratitude. The people began to spread news about the cafe, and soon enough, the cafe was a hit. All thanks, to the man called Christian.
